Questions concrete contractors ask about marketing

Straight answers for concrete company owners on reviews, Google Ads, pricing per square foot, websites, the benchmark data and the free 14-day trial.

How many Google reviews does a concrete contractor need?

More than the crews you appear next to. Across 80,873 concrete listings the median is 7 reviews and 57.9% have fewer than 10. That is a low bar compared with plumbing or HVAC, which is good news: 40 reviews puts you near the top of the trade, and 55 puts you in the top tenth. Concrete crews finish a job every few days rather than several a day, so the realistic pace is two to four reviews a week, asked for on the day you strip the forms. The reviews guide has the scripts.

Should I publish my price per square foot?

Publish a range with what drives it, not a single number. Homeowners searching "concrete driveway cost" are going to find a number somewhere, and if it is not yours it is a national average article that quotes $6 and makes your $12 look like gouging. A page that says broom finish flatwork runs $8 to $14 per square foot in your market, stamped runs $15 to $25, and then lists the six things that move it (thickness, rebar versus mesh, subgrade work, demo and haul-off, access, colors and release) sells better than a hidden price. Details in the pricing guide.

What does a concrete lead cost on Google Ads?

Expect $45 to $150 per lead for residential flatwork in most US metros, and $90 to $250 for foundation and commercial terms where the volume is thin. The contractors who lose money are running broad match on "concrete" and paying for people looking for countertops, ready mix delivery and concrete floor paint. Exact and phrase match on job terms, a tight negative list, and call tracking fix most of it. See the Google Ads guide.

Do Facebook and Instagram ads work for concrete?

Better than for most trades, because the product photographs well. A stamped patio before and after, or a 40-second time lapse of a pour going from gravel to broom finish, will outperform any stock image you can buy. Budget $20 to $40 a day in a 15 mile radius, run one offer at a time, and retarget everyone who watched more than half the video. The Meta ads guide covers creative and offers.

Do I need a website if my Google profile is good?

The data says the two travel together. Concrete contractors with a website have a median of 10 reviews; those without have 2. 25.7% of the trade lists no site at all. The site is also where a homeowner comparing three bids goes to decide who looks real, and where Google and the AI answer engines confirm what you pour and where. Five pages beats no pages. See website essentials.

How do I compete with unlicensed crews bidding half my price?

You do not beat them on price, so stop trying. Beat them on the things they cannot show: a license and bond number on every page, a certificate of insurance you can email in a minute, a written scope that names the thickness, the mix PSI, the rebar spacing and the control joint plan, and 60 photos of finished work with the customer's town in the caption. Then say plainly on your quote what a $6 per square foot pour leaves out. Homeowners are not cheap, they are unsure.

How do I get more work from builders and GCs instead of homeowners?

Different channel entirely. Builders do not find you by searching, they find you through a superintendent who has your number, or through a bid invitation. That means a one-page capabilities sheet, an active insurance certificate on file with each builder, showing up to the pre-construction meeting, and outbound calling to the office rather than ads. Ads can still fill the residential gaps between builder phases, which is how most crews smooth their year out.

When should I be advertising if my pour season is only part of the year?

Advertise ahead of the season, not during it. In most northern markets the search volume for driveways and patios rises in March and peaks in May and June, so the spend needs to start in February to have reviews, photos and a booked pipeline in place when it does. In Sun Belt markets the season runs year round with a summer dip when concrete sets too fast to finish comfortably. The seasonality guide has the month-by-month plan.

Is the benchmark data trustworthy?

It is public data collected at scale, so read it as accurate to within a point or two and not to the decimal. Listings are deduplicated by Google place ID and refreshed monthly. The pool is wide: the primary category "Concrete contractor" is the largest slice but it also includes construction companies, masonry crews and excavators who list concrete work. Google does not publish this data, which is why we compute it. The method is on the about page.

Where does the benchmark data come from?

Public Google Business Profile listings, found through Google Maps searches for concrete contractors in every state. Only public business fields are stored, never reviewer names or personal details. The full field list and the deduplication method are described on the about page.

What is included in the free 14-day trial?

Any one of the services we run, or several at once: Google Ads management, Meta ads, AI search optimization, local SEO and Google Business Profile work, website design, social media, review generation, missed-call text-back and follow-up, email and SMS campaigns, bookkeeping, and cold-call appointment setting for builder and property manager work. Setup, management and reporting are all included. Ad spend paid to Google or Meta, if you choose to run ads, stays yours.

What happens after the 14 days?

You decide. Keep it at the monthly price quoted before the trial started, switch to a different service, or stop. Nothing renews on its own, there is no cancellation step, and whatever we built in your accounts stays in your accounts. That includes the campaigns, the pages and the review system.

Do I have to put a card down?

No. There is no card on file at any point during the trial and nothing is charged. What we need is access to the accounts involved, which for most contractors means the Google Business Profile and the ad account, plus a 20-minute call to learn what you pour and what you want more of.

How fast can it start, and how fast will I see anything?

Most services go live within 48 hours of the setup call; a website takes about a week to first draft. What you see inside 14 days depends on the service. Ads and missed-call text-back produce calls in the first week. Reviews move within days once the crew starts asking. Local SEO and AI search work show movement in weeks, not days, which is worth knowing before you pick which one to trial.
